Vice Chief of Naval Operations Visits 秘密直播 APL

Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jim Kilby visited the 秘密直播 Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, on July 24 along with members of his staff.

Kilby met with technical experts and visited several of the Laboratory鈥檚 state-of-the-art research facilities. He and his team received technical briefings focused on innovations APL develops for sponsors like the U.S. Navy across a number of critical national security capabilities, including integrated air and missile defense, sea control and long-range fires.

鈥淭hrough our partnership, we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in defense technology,鈥 Kilby said. 鈥淭his collaboration not only strengthens our national security but also reaffirms our dedication to advancing the frontiers of science and engineering.鈥

鈥淲e provided Adm. Kilby with a deeper view of the wide-ranging work across APL that is advancing the nation鈥檚 capabilities to maintain superiority in complex warfighting domains,鈥 APL鈥檚 Theater Defense Mission Area Executive Vishal Giare said. 鈥淚t was a great opportunity to hear directly from Adm. Kilby about the Navy鈥檚 critical challenges and priorities, while sharing our perspectives on innovative concepts and solutions.鈥

Kilby ended his visit with a presentation about current naval operations, a question-and-answer session with staff members, and a word of gratitude for APL.

I saw that firsthand today,鈥 Kilby said. 鈥淥ur Navy wants to work together with our partners who are working to solve our most difficult problems to ensure we can fight and win when that call comes.
