STEM outreach in grade school

STEM Outreach

The nation’s future depends on the next generation of scientists and engineers. APL is tackling the critical challenge of inspiring, training, and developing the nation’s STEM talent through school- and community-based outreach programs. Our STEM education and outreach programs reach nearly 3,000 students and community residents each year, on average.

APL actively participates in, partners with, and hosts community-based STEM programs, from robotics competitions to festivals such as the USA Science & Engineering Festival and the Maryland STEM Festival. We have worked with Girls Who Code to inspire and educate girls and equip them with computer coding knowledge to increase the number of women in STEM fields. We have partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore on after-school tutoring programs. And we have held workshops for parents and teachers to help them learn more about STEM resources and opportunities for their children and students.

We’re proud of what we are doing, and grateful to all the teachers, mentors, and volunteers who share their time to reach students.
