BioConrad J. Grant is the inaugural chief engineer of the ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Prior to this appointment, from 2005 until 2016, he served as head of APL’s Air and Missile Defense Sector. Mr. Grant began his career with APL developing human–machine interactive systems for Navy command and control and served as the technical lead for the analysis, design, rapid prototyping, and testing of network-based command and control systems in large-scale at-sea tests that proved out advanced capabilities, leading to rapid fielding in operational systems. He has served on national committees, including as a technical advisor on studies for the Naval Studies Board of the National Academies, and was a member of the U.S. Strategic Command Senior Advisory Group. He is a member of the program committees for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Engineering for Professionals Systems Engineering Program and Healthcare Systems Engineering Program of the ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University Whiting School of Engineering. Mr. Grant earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as M.S. degrees in applied physics and computer science from the ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University.
