秘密直播 Applied Physics Lab Earns Global Society of Women Engineers Awards
The 秘密直播 Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, has been honored with the Society of Women Engineers Mission and Best Practices awards.
The Society of Women Engineers recognizes members who enhance the profession and advocate for women in engineering through their contributions to industry, education and the community. The gold, silver and bronze Mission Award recognizes group achievements, while Best Practice honors are given for the top three events in each Mission Award category.
The APL group 鈥 SWE@APL 鈥 was awarded a silver Mission Award for the teamwork and dedication of its officers and the members of its Outreach and Women鈥檚 History Month committees.
APL鈥檚 annual Women鈥檚 History Month celebration 鈥 hosted by SWE@APL 鈥 also earned the group a 鈥淏est Practices-Global鈥 Award, selected from all global, multicultural, and diversity and inclusion events submitted within Mission Award applications.
鈥淭he celebration would not have been successful without the support of APL leadership, and so many other staff members who participated in events,鈥 said Sylvie DeLaHunt, the group鈥檚 diversity and inclusion chair. 鈥淲e are excited to continue to grow SWE@APL this year and work toward a 鈥榞old鈥 Mission Award for 2019!鈥
SWE@APL also has a growing list of annual events including technical talks, professional development workshops, educational outreach events, networking socials and a school supply drive to support the Howard County Prepare for Success organization.
鈥淚 am thrilled that SWE@APL has been selected for national recognition within our first decade of existence,鈥 said Kathy Ruben, SWE@APL president. 鈥淚t is a testament to the inspired and creative leadership of our officers, the generosity of our members, and the consistent support from the APL community on behalf of all women at APL.鈥
Award recipients were recognized at the 鈥淐elebrate SWE鈥 event on Oct. 20 in Minneapolis during WE18, the world鈥檚 largest conference for female engineers.
