Ronald Luman to Head Joint Warfare Analysis Department at ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University Applied Physics Laboratory

Ronald R. Luman has been appointed head of the Joint Warfare Analysis Department, which evaluates joint warfare systems and forces, at The ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md.

As a department head, Luman said his priorities are to continue the commitment to the department staff, its sponsors and product quality, along with active use of APL's world-class Warfare Analysis Laboratory.

Prior to joining the Joint Warfare Analysis Department in 2000, Luman was in the Strategic Systems Department for 21 years, serving as a group supervisor and a program area manager. He served a field assignment as the strategic missile systems technical advisor to COMSUBPAC in Hawaii for two years and as chief analyst for the Joint Countermine Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration for four years with the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, VA.

Luman joined the Laboratory in 1978 after earning a master's degree in applied mathematics (Michigan State University). While at APL he earned a master's degree in engineering management from ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University (1986), and a doctorate in systems engineering from The George Washington University (1998).

He is a resident of Columbia, Md.
