Academic Pathways

Not quite ready to start a degree but eager to move forward with your studies? Apply for an Academic Pathways programme.

Our Academic Pathways programmes will help you to develop the skills you need for higher level study without having to go elsewhere to gain entry to a degree.

You have the choice of two different paths to further study:

  1. Pathway Certificate (Foundation). The Pathway Certificate will help you gain a grounding in academic studies and set you on your way to life at ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University.
  2. First-Year Pathway Diploma. The First-Year Pathway Diploma is designed to provide a firm academic grounding while allowing you to work towards your future degree. This pathway will help you towards your goals even if you missed out on University Entrance.

We want to help you reach your potential so you can transition seamlessly into a degree at ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥.

Pathway Certificate (Foundation)

The Pathway Certificate (Foundation) is a foundation course leading into the First-Year Pathway Diploma.

It is taught over one semester and covers the basics needed to succeed at a higher level. Develop language, writing and study skills and gain a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, science or environment. You will also learn about environments within the context of a specialist land-based university.

On successful completion, you¡¯ll be able to transfer to the First-Year Pathway Diploma, which is a two-semester programme.

First-Year Pathway Diploma

The First-Year Pathway Diploma offers supported study, whether you have come to ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ with University Entrance or just missed out.

You can complete the First-Year Pathway Diploma in two semesters. The aim is to develop your academic communication, study and research skills as you focus on a range of other courses selected from our bachelor¡¯s degrees.

This qualification leads into degree studies at ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University.
If you decide to continue on to a bachelor's degree, you will graduate with the First-Year Pathway Diploma before beginning your degree. Once you have completed the degree, you will hold two ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ University qualifications (the First-Year Pathway Diploma and your bachelor's degree).

If you choose not to continue with a bachelor's degree, you will graduate with the First-Year Pathway Diploma only.
